Reigi (label)

The word REIGI precisely label, combines the concepts of politeness, courtesy, respect, gratitude towards the Master and its partners.

The respect of these concepts is common to all martial arts and, more broadly, to life.

REIGI was therefore the expression of mutual respect in society and is also the means to become aware of your position in the midst of our fellow human beings.

The founder said that Aikido is the way to be in harmony with all creatures of the universe. How can there be harmony if there are no rules?

In society, in the family and in every other aspect of life to report there are rules. In Budo there is a natural hierarchy, dictated by the maturity and knowledge is what distinguishes the Maestro fromdisciples, sempai from kohai.

The observation of these rules is the essential condition for the survival and the balance of the company.

In the dojo respect towards the sempai must not be caused but the kohai must feel naturally respect and gratitude toward the sempai that helps him to move forward.

The spirit of gratitude, gratitude and respect manifests itself when you look at a label, and when it is perceived in a natural way. However, we need to get to a point that is spontaneously comply with the rules of REIGI. This behavior to be spontaneous, must come

from the heart or the formality will only superficially and falsehood. In Budo, as in life, our actions must be guided by a pure heart, noble and generous.

After this general premise on Reigi here forms of behaviour in the dojo for Aikido:

Arrive in dojo at least twenty minutes before the start of the lesson.

It maintains in the dojo in clothes borghesi, speaking aloud, but there you start right away in the changing rooms where, always maintaining a decent demeanor and talking quietly, there are changes in the shortest possible time.

It is only allowed to wear keikogi and white belt (except the Yudansha which must wear a black belt and hakama). Only females can wear under the jacket of a white shirt keikogi.

It is absolutely forbidden to wear jewelry.

Arrived near the tatami we turn away to that and you climb while leaving the zoori parallel or arranging them in the appropriate shelf.

Just risen assumes the position of seiza in silence and greeting (zarei) correctly and with concentration.

Since that time, under the leadership of Sempai (the most senior grade group) you practice aiki taiso and martial, without speaking.

When you see the exit from the locker room, the Master gives the order of Sempai seiza, we align immediately to order descending grade from right to left facing the kamiza and expects the absolute silence which the Maestro reaches the center of the tatami to zarei together pupils.

At the end of the first to greet the Teacher and pupils speak aloud "ONEGAESHIMASU".

During the explanation of the techniques it is not permitted for any reason to talk with peers, ask questions, comments or distracted.

When the Teacher, after the explanation, invites students to practise saying "DOZO", you choose a partner quickly running zarei and saying along with him still "ONEGAESHIMASU". This step is repeated with every new technique.

When the Teacher stops the practice to explain a new technique, it performs quickly with your partner zarei saying

"DOMO ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA" and align to hear the explanation.

Who is invited by Maestro as partner must immediately do zarei saying out loud "ONEGAESHIMASU" and very quickly reach the master.

During the lesson is absolutely forbidden to talk with your partner; If you have not understood the explanation expects the Master look in your direction and turning to him with a bow (ritsurei), it says "ONEGAESHIMASU". Only when the master was approached asking further explanation so respectful and quietly. Received this teaching thanks to the Maestro running still ritsurei and saying "DOMO ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA." If the master is a high degree, to call him and thank him running the zarei.

There shall never taught him of you but, using always called her, if he has a degree Sempai until godan; beyond this degree, or simply Master Sensei.

At the end of the lesson there is aligned in the same order as the start and run together with Maestro zarei saying aloud

"DOMO ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA."

Expects in seiza still zarei teacher leaves the tatami and departs from the dressing room; only at this point there rises and, always in seiza, you run the zarei thanking the partners with which it is practiced during the lesson. It's always the kohai (the youngest as degree) that approaches the sempai to thank.

It drops by tatami and moves towards changing the dressing rooms for the same decent silence.

Before and after each lesson, some students volunteers shall clean the tatami. In generesono the kohai to volunteer but, in the absence thereof, must do so the Yudansha. Also during the cleaning of tatami kept silence.

To climb or descend from the tatami when there is a master or a sempai, must always be asked for permission beforehand.

For riordinarsi the keikogi or belt partner is asked to "SUMIMASEN" (sorry), we turned insteadthe exterior of the tatami (never around kamiza) and this is done in the shortest possible time. Always remember that the dojo is a place where you practice the art, not only in the technical sense but also in the sense of spiritual way: therefore the rules listed above must be the base of your behaviour outside the dojo for Aikido is not only lived in hours of practice, but every day in our lives. Only in this way we can perhaps understand the spiritual message bequeathed legacy by the founder
